How you can contribute

OUR GOAL

. . .is to capture all the knowledge and experiential tradition currently residing in so many current and former team leaders and members into a comprehensive resource.

You know how much you rely on our Sail Chicago telephone directory. It was a big step up to create the Sail Chicago Handbook a few years ago - to let you get more out of the club. The next step is the Sail Chicago Rhodes Maintenance Manual: documentation of all the good things that work well so our club can avoid all the make-work that does not!

YOU CAN HELP

Over the years different teams have documented procedures of various elements of a job in different ways. Each of our 400+ members may have different pieces of the mosaic of the collective wisdom of our club. Please look into your sailing files to see what you personally may have created, received or collected over time. YOU = Current or Former Team Leaders, Team members, and interested members at large.

SEEKING

1. Please send us whatever written procedures you may have in your possession. By collecting documented procedures from over the years, we will gain the benefit many talented people.

2. Please share written timelines; check lists; specification lists; tools/consumables required for a job; sketches; photo's; reference "How To" articles or anything else of relevance.

3. Your great ideas: now is an ideal time to consider documenting all those great ideas you've been meaning to write down!

4. Enthusiastic talent (Web skills and Editors/writers) to help assemble/learn from this exciting material.

HOW

Send material, either as a paper copy or preferably as an electronic file, to Sally Hamann at 2430 N. Artesian Ave, Chicago IL 60647-1903 or sallyhamann@aol.com. PLEASE use "MainteanceManual" as the subject line of your email.

Don't hesitate to contact Stefania Aulicino at Stefania@CapitalLinkUSA.com if you have any questions or suggestions about this project, or have a skill you'd like to contribute to this opus.

We greatly respect every member who has taken on the role of team leader. The On-Line Maintenance Manual Team is committed to gather Sail Chicago's 40 years' of wisdom to make their Team Leader job easier and the job of every member more rewarding so our boats will be the best possible!
