DEFINITION
Running lights are extremely important for safe operation after sun down so that you and other boats can apply right of way rules to avoid collision.

Annually, verify all lights, wiring and power sources on the boat are secure and operational; check functionality of solar panels and batteries able to sustain power for an entire season of use; manage back up procedures for drained batteries on the water and support during the season, including appropriately designed deck mechanisms for clips on lights (operated by battery lights)

Volunteers should not be subject to moving violations or injury with out operational light bars when towing a boat on a trailer. Annually, light bar wires on trailers should be checked and standardized for easy use; wires marked for Right, Left, Break, and Ground for fast hook-ups; light sockets checked annually to ensure they are not corroded;

Trailer light plugs with typical universal male/female plugs should be assembled with adapter package, including a diagnostic probe to facilitate proper links without shorting out a tow vehicle’s electrical system.

ALERT/WHY

  • Light bars are used with different towing vehicles. “quick clip” or “alligator clip” make excellent adapter package to wire into a non compatible trailer vehicle
