Rhodes 19 Sail Chicago owns and maintains eleven Rhodes 19 sailboats for use in our instructional programs as well as for fleet racing against privately owned Rhodes. Our Rhodes are sturdy 19 foot sailboats with a simple layout for easy handling and quick learning. This boat design is ideal for Lake Michigan, it's heavy fixed keel provides excellent stability. Eight of our Rhodes are kept on mooring cans in Monroe Harbor directly adjacent to Downtown Chicago. Beginner and intermediate learn to sail classes are held on these safe and stable sailboats. When these boats are not in use for instruction, members rent them for recreational sailing. The other three Rhodes 19 sailboats are maintained especially for racing against other Rhodes in one-design competition out of Montrose Harbor at the north end of Lincoln Park. |
