Rhodes 19 Tiller Time

Tiller Time is an on-the-water opportunity to augment your Sail Chicago instruction program with the safety of a certified skipper on board. It is a chance to gain some valuable time at the helm in preparation for your checkout. Tiller time can also be used as an opportunity to simply get some more time on the water for more sailing experience. Tiller Time is for both beginning and intermediate students, as well as for skippers who just want to practice. It is not however, designed to take the place of instruction. Students who have completed the Basic Sailing Skills course and would like further instruction are encouraged to sign up for the Intermediate Sailing Skills course, as well as Tiller Time.

Cost: $20.00

Send one $20 check (payable to Sail Chicago) for each Tiller Time you wish to schedule (not one large check) to:

If it is necessary to cancel, try to do so at least 48 hours in advance. Everyone will be waiting at the harbor if they don't hear from you. Weather or Not: The decision not to sail due to inappropriate weather will be made by the skipper at the harbor. Sailors who do not show will forfeit their fee for the day. If a refund is necessary, your check will be destroyed.

If Chris does not respond in a timely fashion via one form of contact, please try another form.

Potential Tiller Time Skippers, here's your chance to evaluate and develop your leadership and teaching abilities, have fun, and go sailing! If you have been a skipper for one or more years, you can fulfill your service time requirement for NEXT season by skippering 7 Tiller Times this season. You are able to bring a crewmember of your choice. If there are no students signed up for one of your Tiller Time days, you are able to choose whether you would like to go sailing anyway. Skippering for Tiller Time is an excellent stepping-stone if you would like to become an instructor. Contact Chris Garvey at the above phone numbers or email to sign up, or if you have further questions.
