Racing Skipper/Captain
A skipper’s role is to ensure the safety of a sailboat and all those aboard. Skippers instruct the novice sailors/crew in good sail trim, setting a course, and basic racing rules.

To be eligible as a Sail Chicago racing skipper, you must be a qualified Sail Chicago skipper with prior racing experience. This experience can be earned by crewing in various racing events.

Shields skippers must pay local and national fleet dues.
Rhodes Open Racing Series skippers must be authorized by the Harbor Captain for that Series.
