II. Use of Answering Service to Rent Boats
A. Annual account activation requirements are:
1. Meet the Membership Requirements, as defined in section I.A
2. Hold a current Sail Chicago Skipper Card for the class of boat you wish to use.
3. Pay Pre-Paid Rental.
4. Sign-up for participation in the Summer Maintenance Program. Rhodes skippers are exempt from Summer Maintenance requirements during their first summer of membership.
B. All boat reservations shall be made on-line. Those without computer access will be able to call other members who do have computers and make reservations through them. No boat may be used without a reservation.
C. Make-up classes may only be scheduled by an instructor.
D. Cancellations:
1. To be eligible for a refund, reservations must be canceled 48 hours prior to the rental period.
2. Cancellations made less than 48 hour prior to rental time will refunded as a credit. which must be used prior to the end of the sailing season.

1. When a boat is out of commission private rentals might be "bumped" by a class or other program.
2. Acceptable reasons for rental refunds.
a. If a class is using your boat and no other equivalent boat is available.
b. Harbor conditions are unsafe for dinghy launch or operation.
c. Condition of boat or equipment prevents safe use of boat.
d. Squalls or heavy rain during the first hour of rental period.
e. Excessive wind and/or waves.
f. No wind during first hour of rental period.
3. Steps required of skipper in order to receive rental refund.
a. Skipper must have acceptable reason for refund, as listed in subsection II.E.2., above.
b. Skipper must be present at harbor to personally observe conditions.

F. Annual rental account statement.
1. Issued to skippers at the end of each sailing season.
2. Any inaccurate rental charge must be challenged within 30 days after statement is issued.
