Hold a current Sail Chicago Skipper Card.
A basic Sail Chicago Skipper Card is earned by completing the Skipper Training class, passing a swim, written and on-the-water test. Students without Skipper Cards cannot check out boats.

Be a current member of Sail Chicago.
Sail Chicago membership is $100-180 per year.

Complete the Volunteer Service requirement.
Members perform a minimum 20 hours of service. First year students are not required to complete this until the beginning of their second Sail Chicago sailing season.

Register for Summer Maintenance Program.
Pick one week between May 1st and October 15th to make yourself available to assist with any necessary repairs. First year students are not required to register until their second Sail Chicago sailing season.

Keep a balance in your Sail Chicago Rental Deposit account.
Boat cost sharing will be deducted from this account.
