Annual Service Requirement

Sail Chicago is a large and vibrant organization, with a mission to provide sailing to its members and the people of Chicago. The service contribution of each member is the foundation for fulfilling that mission. The time you give back to Sail Chicago benefits everyone who enjoys our program, and volunteers make Sail Chicago the continuing success that it is today. It is vitally important that the work required to run the club be distributed among all the members of Sail Chicago.

What is the Annual Service Requirement?
Every member must contribute service time, in the form 20 hours of work every year or pay the $400.00 opt-out fee. This is separate from the Summer Maintenance Program service requirement.

Who is Required to Participate?
All skippers must perform service time in order to be eligible to rent sailboats. All Sail Chicago members are encouraged to contribute service time. Students that receive their skipper certification during the current season are not required to perform service time until the following year.

Requirements
Contribute a minimum of 20 hours service time for the year. Annual service time must be completed in order to rent sailboats.
